St John And The Alchemy of Anthroposophical Medicine

On June the 24th we celebrate every year the day of John the Baptist (the time of this observance lasts then 4 weeks-hence called the St. John’s Tide). It almost cannot be believed that even among anthroposophists the overwhelming importance of this individuality has dimmed over time. And yet Rudolf Steiner devotes to him the entire last lecture that he ever gave. This so called “Last Address” given on the 28th of September 1924 shows R. Steiner’s attempt one more time to draw our attention to John the Baptist, his connection to Lazarus, and his central role in coming to the center of anthroposophy as such.

By starting with the all important aspect of St. John’s biography related to the act of Baptism we will trace impulses that lead to a better understanding of Rosicrucianism and the esoteric basis of anthroposophical medicine, and anthroposophical doing.
